Understanding regulation (EU) 517/2014
This regulation is the guiding force to substantially reduce emissions of F-Gases, the human-made greenhouse gases with significant global warming effects. Designed to foster climate change mitigation and environmental conservation, its objective is to reduce the EU’s F-Gas emissions by two-thirds by 2030 compared to levels recorded in 2014.
The specific gases targeted under this regulation include:
Hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs)
Perfluorocarbons (PFCs)

Additional gases listed in Annex II of the regulation
To attain this, the regulation outlines a comprehensive set of rules encompassing the containment, use, recovery, and destruction of F-Gases. It further stipulates a phased reduction approach from 2015 to 2030 to gradually decrease the climate impact of HFCs.
